The 59th Filmfare award ceremony took place on January 24 at Yash Raj Studio in Andheri. The event proved that the legendary sports icons of the nations are still best remembered and respected by one and all. The Indian sprinter Milkha Singh's biopic ' Bhaag Milkha Bhaag ' stole the show by bagging the Best Film, Best Actor ( Farhan Akhtar ) and Best Director ( Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra ) award at the star-studded 59th Filmfare award, reportedly. The biopic grabbed total six awards at the show. The stunning lady Deepika Padukone won Best Actress award for ' Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela ', reportedly. Farhan Akhtar is in Chandigarh, so could not attend the award ceremony.
Critics Award for Best Film was won by ' The Lunchbox ', Best Debut Director award was given to Ritesh Batra for ' The Lunchbox '. Best Debut (Male) award was bagged by Dhanush for 'Raanjhanaa', while Vaani Kapoor won Best Debut (Female) award for ' Shuddh Desi Romance '. Supriya Pathak won the Best Supporting Actress award for ' Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela '. Siddharth Mahadevan grabbed R.D. Burman Award for the song "Zinda" from ' Bhaag Milkha Bhaag '. Nawazuddin Siddiqui won the Best Supporting Actor award for ' The Lunchbox '. The Best Playback Singer (Female) award was won by Monali Thakur for the song "Sawaar Loon" from ' Lootera ' and Arijit Singh grabbed the Best Playback Singer (Male) award for the track "Tum Hi Ho" from ' Aashiqui 2 '.
The veteran actress Tanuja was awarded with Lifetime Achievement award. Tanuja was present with her two actress daughters, Kajol and Tanisha Mukherjee .
