Baisakhi is one of the important festivals celebrated by Punjabis and other religions as well. This year, the Punjabi Cultural Heritage Board will be celebrating Baisakhi amidst thousands of Punjabis on 12 April at Shanmukhnanda Auditorium situated at the Kings Circle in Mumbai. The head of the board Congress MLC Charan Singh Sapra announced the fact lately.
At this ceremony, the prestigious Punjabi Icon Awards will be given to the Punjabis who have excelled in their respective fields. The legendary actor Dharmendra , the flying Sikh Milkha Singh, sportsman Gagan Narang, Bollywood Diva Neha Dhupia , musician Rabbi Shergill and many others will be honored with the awards for their contribution in their respective fields. At the event, Punjabi pop singer Jazzy B, Satinder Satti, and stand-up comedian Sudesh Lehari (comedy circus fame) will entertain the audience with their performances. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan, Industry Minister Shri Narayan Rane & MP Shri Raj Babbar are invited to be the honorable guests of the event.
Baisakhi is a festival of Punjabis it is a day observed as the Thanksgiving Day by the farmers whereby the farmers pay their tribute, thanking God for the abundant harvest and also praying for the future prosperity.
