Director Srijit Mukherjee made Vidya Balan skip her grooming sessions for Begum Jaan.

When you are in glamour world, constant grooming is necessary. But, Vidya Balan gave her parlor visits a miss during the shooting schedule of Begum Jaan .
As per the sources, director Srijit Mukherjee wanted Vidya to have wild, rugged look. For which, he strictly forbidden her from threading her eyebrows, waxing and applying makeup during the shoots. He had even asked her to gain weight and have a natural tanned skin to fit the image of Begum Jaan. And, it was not just Vidya, but other actresses, including Gauhar and Pallavi Sharda skipped their grooming sessions for the same reason.
Begum Jaan stars Vidya in the role of brothel’s madam. The film also features Naseeruddin Shah and Ila Arun in key roles.
