Ekta Kapoor to make bold web series on Devdas with female protagonist
Ekta Kapoor will make a bold web series based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's classic novel 'Devdas'.

Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's classic novel 'Devdas' has been retold by Bimal Roy, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Anurag Kashyap and now, the filmmaker Ekta Kapoor is going to present it a different way. Ekta will make a web series titled Dev DD and this will be for the app ALT Balaji that will be launched soon.
This web series will directed by Ken Ghosh and it will be set in modern times and will feature a female protagonist. This will be a tale of a young, rebellious girl called Devika. It will highlight various phases of her life like love, passion, heartbreak, sex, self-destruction, redemption.
Talking about this, the director Ken stated "It's the female, younger version of 'Devdas' and has a cool, modern look with a different approach. The title comes from the protagonist's name, Devika Dharam Dwivedi. Instead of Paro and Chandramukhi, we have two men," He further said that the star cast of this venture will mostly be the new faces.
Post a lengthy schedule in Jaipur, the team of this series will be filming in Mumbai. This web series is of eleven episodes and the shooting of it will be done like a movie, said the director.
