The Flying Sikh of India Milkha Singh has just charged only one rupee from the director of his biopic Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra . The generous athlete has charged only a nominal sum of rupee to allow the director to make the movie on the athlete's life. The most special thing about the currency note is that it is printed in the year 1958 which the same year Milkha Singh had won his first gold medal in the Commonwealth Games.
The biopic is named as ' Bhaag Milkha Bhaag ' which has veteran director and actor Farhan Akhtar in a leading role. The tentative date for the movie release in July 2013. Rajiv Tondon, the CEO of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra Pictures Ptv. Ltd said that, " We wanted to offer a priceless token of our gratitude to the great MilKha Singh ji as he allowed us to make the film on his life. We were searching for that special thing and suddenly we had struck an idea to gift him a special currency note printed in the year 1958 which is the same year that India and Milkha Singh ji had won the first gold medal in the Commonwealth Games."
" It was difficult to find that note but at the end of the day we managed to get it and gift it to Milkha ji as a token of our love and gratitude," said the CEO in a statement.
He further added that," Money was not Milkha ji's priority at all. He just wanted us to make the film in such a way that it should inspire young Indian generation to win more gold medals in the athletics." Confirming the news, the source said that Milkha Singh got really moved after getting such priceless possession from the director. The currency note is like memento for him.
