Bollywood once in a while takes advantage of festivals and seasons for films, and considering the track-record of Bollywood in cashing out its advantage, it is good and effective almost always. Here is the recently released track Aala Re Aala Ganesha, from the upcoming film Daddy , which was set in the early 80’s era in the Bombay! So, in terms of showing festive vibe of Bombay in that era! Considering the detailing to that video, even though mostly meant to go for background score for the storyline, composers Sajid - Wajid pretty much nailed it!
The song starts with the scene where the film shows a glimpse of terror and how celebrated gangster Arun Gawli used to maintain his reign of power over underworld of Bombay! Though this is not the first song made to celebrate festive season of Ganpati and there are popular examples of it too! But what sets Aala Re Aala Ganesha aside from those tracks is the element of portraying the raw and realistic spirit of Bombay for this particular festival, compared to elaborate dance sequence or well synced and choreographed a song could be.
More about the video, in particular, they have maintained every element like banjo parties and performers performing, fun-fare like atmosphere, elaborate Lezim troop but not necessarily attached to the storyline and premise of the song and people having their fun time while character Arun and his wife would have their devotee time to their Lord Ganesha. Even to the composition of some composter, Sajid - Wajid didn’t fail to include every element of that era, which is not much changed even in this time of Mumbai.
Daddy , will be a biographical crime drama based on the life of infamous gangster-turned-Politician Arun Gawli and the film is directed by Ashim Ahluwalia and it is co-written and produced by Arjun Rampal . The cast includes Farhan Akhtar , Anand Ingale , Rajesh Shringarpure , Mir Sarwar and Aishwarya Rajesh . And the film will be releasing on 8th September!
