The wait is finally over, the much-awaited jodi of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt will hit the theatres on 14th February 2019. The duo is collaborating for the first time for Zoya Akhtar ’s Gully Boy and the makers have decided to release their film on Valentine’s Day next year. Though the film is scheduled to release on the day of Valentine, it is not about an out and out love story. Gully Boy is about rapping, struggle, achievement and stardom which is based on the real-life story of Naved Shaikh aka Naezy and Vivian Fernandez aka Divine. As the makers have announced the official release date, they have also released the first look of Alia and Ranveer, who will be seen playing the role of aspiring rappers from the slums of Mumbai. Made under the banner of Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani ’s Excel Entertainment, the movie has already gone on floors.Instead of shooting in a studio, director Zoya chose to shoot her film on the real locations of Mumbai so that film gets the raw look. As Ranveer will be seen as a hard-core underground rapper he has been taking lessons from months from the real rappers of the nation.
Apart from Alia and Ranveer, the film also has 2 more pivotal characters which will be played by Kalki Koechlin and Vijay Varma of the Monsoon Shootout fame.
