' Heroine ' is a film made by Madhur Bhandarkar who is known for making movies based on real incidents or films which are close to reality. Therefore everyone is expecting that his latest flick would also reveal the happenings in the film industry. He has stated to the media, "I will tell you something; I am very well aware that I have to give audience what they expect from Madhur Bhandarkar cinema. When I made films like Fashion , Jail , Page 3 or Traffic Signal , people always asked me that when would I make a film that would be on my own fraternity (Bollywood). Since I was anyways making films on other premises, I too thought that it was about time I made a film on the life and times of a heroine. So yes, what you would see in Heroine is a ringside view of what happens in the industry."

Madhur also feels that audience would like the film and would not go back home disappointed.

When he was asked whether it is based on any real person of the industry, he said, "More than anything else, it is actually very difficult to draw an inspiration from one particular individual and then make an entire film around it. Yes, I have indeed taken inspiration from Hollywood as well as the Mumbai film industry. In fact I have always said that the film is 70% real and 30% fiction. However Kareena feels that we are 80%-90% real and close to reality. Still, at the end of it all I am looking at telling a well narrated story. I am a good story teller and I think Heroine has enough material that a common man would look forward to."

Arjun Rampal and Randeep Hooda are also in the lead roles along with Divya Dutta and Ranvir Shorey . This film releases on 21st September this year.
