I couldn’t believe that Kapil Dev had followed my work, says Sugandha Mishra

Actor Sugandha Mishra was amazed when legendary cricketer Kapil Dev told her that he had met her before! The two met on the sets of India’s first live comedy show Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan and she was impressed by the cricketer’s comedy skills. “When I met Kapil Dev sir first time backstage, he said, ‘Haven't we met before?’ so I said, ‘No, we haven't. I have got a chance to meet you for the first time today.’ But he said, ‘I have met you many times, I keep watching your Didi acts on my phone!’ This was such a big thing for me – a legend talking about me. I couldn’t believe that he had been following my work. I was really overwhelmed,” she says.

She adds, “Working with big cricket legends like Kapil dev sir, Virendra Sehwag sir, Ajay Jadeja is an honor for me. They have a good sense of humor. Their one-liners and reactions to the punches bring the spark in the show.”

The actor is also sharing the stage with the likes of Shilpa Shinde , Ali Asgar , Sunil Grover and Paresh Ganatra . “Sharing the stage with Sunil Grover Bhai, Ali Asgar Ji Paresh Ganatra sir is amazing. Shilpa Shinde is my favorite. I have worked with Sunil Bhai and Ali Ji in the past so are like family. Sometimes we do not get time to rehearse but our tuning is so good that we perform very well when we go live. I am loving working with Shilpa, she is multi-talented. She has never done any live show and is loving it. I have done many gags with Paresh Ganatra sir and he is a very well experienced actor. I love working with him,” he says.

The show will be telecast on the Jio app, however, Sugandha does not feel that this will limit her audience. “Thanks to the internet, people can see our show worldwide. Many people don't get time to watch television. But because of the My Jio TV, people can watch our live show and this will only increase our reach,” she says.

Ask her why she took up the show, and she says, “Our show is very different. People discuss cricket very seriously but this time they will see a comedy side to cricket. What also prompted me to take up the show was the platform. This is the first time that I am working on cricket and comedy.”

Sugandha also feels lucky to work with producers Preeti Simoes and Neeti Simoes. “Preeti and Neeti are the most creative producers ever and they are like family to me. They are multi-talented and are blessed with creativity, amazing managerial skills. They are an inspiration to every girl. I love working with them and I hope we keep working together until the end of my career. Preeti and Neeti's vision is very broad and sometimes we think we won't be able to play a certain character but their confidence level always boosts us," she says.
