Last night went on with peace for mostly everyone of us, with sound sleep and pleasant dreams. But, as soon as the eyes opened, it opened to a shock! Early this morning broke out the sad news of the sudden demise of the legendary singer Manna Dey .
94-year old Dey was ailing in Bengaluru for sometime. Recently, Dey complained of some respiratory disorder, after which the phenom was shifted to Narayana Hrudayalaya hospital in Bengaluru and was detected of respiratory ailment and renal failure. Soon after this, Dey was adviced on ventilator support for sometime. Forlornly, Dey left the battle and breathed his last today at 3.50 a.m due to cardiac arrest reportedly.
Turning back on his immense contribution, Manna Dey showcased the signs of a great singer long back in school, when he used to bang benches and sing aloud to entertain his fellow mates. Debuting in the industry as a playback singer, Dey sang his first in 1943 released 'Tamanna'. Lending his melodious vocals to around 4000 songs till date, majority of his offerings have managed to space into the chartbusters.
Year 2007 witnessed the legend receiving the honor of the prestigious "Dadasaheb Phalke Award". The body of the ace would be kept at 'Ravindra Kala Kshetra' for a final farewell.
