' Madras Cafe ' experienced much of controversy before its release and the final outcome of the fuss is that ' Madras Cafe ' will be released in Tamil Nadu on 23rd August, but with U/A Certification assigned by Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
A source said, that ' Madras Cafe ' got U/A certificate for Tamil version without any cut. Movie is scheduled to release tomorrow in Tamil. Confirming the news, co-producers Viacom 18 Motion Pictures said, Tamil version of the movie has been assigned U/A certificate, with no cuts. Also they have arranged for Police protection to ensure smooth screening of the film. The film confronted lot of criticism from Tamil Nationalist Party, with Petitioner, Advocate B. Stalin, filed PIL addressing that the film might lead to problem, as it contains "Objectionable Content".
As per the buzz, ' Madras Cafe ' is fictionalized plot based on true incidence of assassination of former Indian Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi. And, therefore portrays LTTE personnel as terrorist. As reported earlier, Tamil filmmaker Seeman considers it to be 'Anti- Tamil ', violating Tamilians sentiments. Also, Pon Radhakrishanan, Tamil Nadu unit chief of Bharatiya Janata Party, said ' Madras Cafe ' should be banned throughout the country.
Even after facing the long-list of criticisms ' Madras Cafe ' is successfully delivered at the theater, gaining positive reviews. ' Madras Cafe ' stars John Abraham , Nargis Fakhri , Rashi Khanna , Leena Maria Paul and Ajay Ratnam and is directed by Shoojit Sircar .
