It might come as surprise to many cine-buffs but eventually Arjun Rampal did expect his upcoming film Daddy to receive an A certificated from Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), and it is in favor of the film! The trailer for the film already garnered many appreciation and accolades for the gritty storytelling it has! The film Daddy is based on former gangster turned politician Arun Gawli and his rise to reign. And since Arjun Rampal has also written and produced this film, he wishes audience to experience Daddy in all its glory!
For ages, CBFC has been notorious with the films that have blood-shedding and provocative scenes which they think might upset the audience. And since, Daddy is based on the life of a well celebrated gangster Arun Gawli and his early days and his journey, it bound to have gory scenes including many encounters and shootouts, all painted in the early 80’s and 90’s. Hence, the film gets A certificate, it might have gotten audience count if it was released with U/A certificate, but now it would reach to the audiences who wouldn’t have problem with gritty film and would appreciate the film as it is!
While in conversation with media, Arjun Rampal explained, “I’d have been genuinely surprised if our film was not given an ‘A’. The film is about a personality, who shared an ambivalent relationship with the law, so, yes, it is a film for adults.” He also told more about his interaction with CBFC officials. “I was given the choice of an ‘A’ and a ‘U/A’ with several cuts. But the cuts would have taken away from the raw and real feel of the film. So, I was advised against it by the CBFC members. As for the three verbal cuts, they make no difference to my film.”
Daddy , the film is directed by Ashim Ahluwalia and it is co-written and produced by Arjun Rampal . The cast includes Farhan Akhtar , Anand Ingale , Rajesh Shringarpure , Mir Sarwar and Aishwarya Rajesh . And the film will be releasing on 8th September!
