Nandita Das and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Manto to be screened at Cannes!

Good news for the entire film fraternity! Nandita Das ’ ambitious film, Manto , has been selected at Cannes Film Festival 2018. The film will be shown under Un Certain Regards section and the big news was shared by the official page of the Cannes Festival itself.
Interestingly, till yesterday, rumour had it that the film might not be selected for the coveted festival, but Nandita too shared the news and confirmed it via her tweet.
Confirming the news on Twitter, she said, “We are in Cannes!! #Manto is selected in the official section- Un Certain Regards. For the uninitiated, Manto is biographical period drama film based on Indo-Pakistani author and writer Saadat Hasan Manto. The film also features Tahir Raj Bhasin , who plays the 40’s Bollywood Superstar Shyam Chaddha. Shyam was Manto’s friend, confidant and inspiration for a number of stories. Rasika Duggal plays the role of Manto's wife named Safiah. Rajshri Despande, Paresh Rawal and Rishi Kapoor also have a pivotal role in the film.
