Actor Manoj Bajpai was recently quoted saying, "Abhishek is someone whom I am really familiar with. I respect him and have high regard for that man". He further added, "I am prepared for any comparisons that come in, whether for good or for bad. If you compare me with Abhishek then it will only make me happy; no issues around that." If you are wondering as to why he made this sudden statement then you need to read ahead.
Nearly two years ago, two films were made that were based on the Chittagong Uprising of 1930. These films were Ashutosh Gowariker ' Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey ' starring Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles and Bedabrata Pain 's ' Chittagong ' starring Manoj Bajpai in the lead role. Both Abhishek and Manoj had played the same character.
Abhishek's version had released first but failed badly at the box office. Therefore, the release of Manoj Bajpai 's film had to be postponed. There was a sort of controversy as to the release of Ashutosh Gowariker 's film.
Anurag Kashyap had openly shown his discontent and had accused Amitabh Bachchan on his Facebook account of using his power to delay the release of ' Chittagong ' as his son Abhishek featured in ' Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey ', which was also based on Chittagong uprising.
But according to the director Bedabrata Pain , his film was delayed due to the distributors'' suggestions. Now Anurag has also moved on and is co-producing the film ' Chittagong '. He has made it clear that now there are no issues anymore with the Bachchans.
The film is all set to release on October 12 this year.
