Activists of the Sri Rajput Karni Sena have been against the film ‘ Padmavati ’ since the very first day of the shoots. They had protested, manhandled and misbehaved with the crew and damaged some cameras and other paraphernalia on the sets. They claimed that Bhansali was distorting historical facts in the movie. Now, Sarv Brahmin Mahasabha, a Brahmin outfit, has opposed the release of the film and demanded that its release needs to be “stopped”. According to a report in a leading daily, Mahasabha state President Suresh Mishra stated, “As per the feelings of the general public, screening of this movie should be stopped otherwise the Sarv Brahmin Mahasabha will oppose this movie. They (Bhansali’s team) are trying to defame Padmavati by distorting historical facts. No one can tolerate this.”
In an interview with a leading agency, when Bhansali was asked about the negative forces around his film, he said “None of my films has been easy to shoot. From the time I directed my first film ‘Khamoshi: The Musical’, I’ve fought against all odds. My first film was declared a flop on the first day of release and there were reports of enraged viewers breaking their seats inside the theatre. I wondered what I had done to incur their wrath.” “I don’t think of the struggle, the suffering and the strife as negative forces. They are my incentives to make the films that I want to make. If I had to make a stress-free film, I’d be really worried,” added the filmmaker.
Starring Deepika Padukone , Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor , ‘ Padmavati ’ is slated to release on 1st December, which isn’t a month away. It remains to be seen how actions like these affect the movie before and after its release.
