The Examining Committee of the CBFC viewed the film Padmavati on 28 December and decided to issue UA certificate to the film after ordering producers to cut a string of scenes. A UA certificate means that the film can be viewed by all age groups. According to sources, Central Board of Film Certification has asked Padmavati makers to change the film’s name to Padmavat , the title of a 16th-century poem on fabled Rajasthani queen Rani Padmini.

Also starring Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in lead roles, the film sees Deepika Padukone in the titular role of queen Padmavati.
