Ten years after the release of Prakash Jha 's critically acclaimed ' Gangaajal ', the filmmaker Jha is on the verge of penning down a prequel to this flick. ' Gangaajal ' was the police drama that had its roots dipped in the Bhagalpur blinding incidents and featured Ajay Devgn , Gracy Singh and Ayub Khan in key roles.

It has been learnt that Jha has already started working on his next project and intends Ajay Devgn to render the role of SP Amit Kumar, an upright police. A close source narrated that Jha interacted with Ajay pertaining to the prequel to ' Gangaajal ' during the filming of their last outing together, ' Satyagraha '. Ajay found the overall concept very effective and instantly gave thumbs up to the filmmaker. Although Devgn is busy in shooting for ' Action Jackson ', his next film with Prabhu Deva , he is constantly keeping in touch with Jha regarding the development of the project.

The prequel of ' Gangaajal ' will trace the protagonist's story prior to becoming a part of the police force in the crime-filled Tezpur district. A source revealed that the film will emphasize on his life journey before becoming a cop and prior to his arrival in Tezpur. The movie will be a kind of emotional one and Jha is currently working on the script part of the film, added the source.
