Protests disrupt the shoot of Alia Bhatt’s Raazi due to Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s arrest!
The situation in Patiala has not been favourable due to the ongoing protests, so the shooting of Raazi had been called off by director Meghna Gulzar.

Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar and team recently completed the first schedule of their upcoming film Raazi . The team including lead star Alia Bhatt were shooting in Patiala when protests broke out due to Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh ’s arrest. Meghna did not take any risk and immediately wrapped up the shooting to ensure everyone’s safety. The movie stars actor Vicky Kaushal as the male lead who plays the role of Alai’s husband in the film.
In a report published in DNA , a source revealed, "Given the situation, Meghna realized that it would be unsafe to shoot in Patiala. The team was required to shoot across several locations in the city, and moving around with the stars and equipment was a risky proposition. Mobile and internet services were also stopped, so communication was another issue among the unit."
The source further added, "The cast and crew stayed put at the hotel over the weekend. They did not want any untoward incidents to unfold considering the high alert in the state. They were discussing how it would be in everyone's best interests to put off the shoot till Monday. There is a possibility of things spiraling out of control after the sentencing."
It is indeed a wise decision on part of the filmmaker. However, the shooting schedule was sure disturbed as they had to finish it by September 10 and move to Chandigarh for their next. Raazi is based on the book Calling Sehmat by Harinder S Sikka and it has been scheduled to release on May 11, 2018.
