The eminent writer duo Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar were honoured with 'Excellence in Cinema' award at the 17th Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, reportedly. Apart from them, the Israeli filmmaker Amos Gitai is also conferred with the same award at the festival. Organised by Mumbai Academy of Moving Images (MAMI) with Star India and Reliance Jio Infocomm is an 8 day festival. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the festival at the Gateway of India.
Talking about this, Fadnavis stated "We want to make Mumbai the entertainment hub. We wish to create state-of-the-art facility at the film city to be at par with global destinations. Not only Indian cinema but world cinema should come here for production,"
Salim-Javed valuable contribution to cinema for their movies like ' Sholay ' and ' Deewaar ' was praised and the films are going to be screened at this event. The festival observed attendance of Bollywood stars like Hrithik Roshan , Abhishek Bachchan , Katrina Kaif , Anil Kapoor , Kangana Ranaut , Alia Bhatt , Siddharth Malhotra , Vidya Balan , Irrfan Khan , Rajkummar Rao , Riteish Deshmukh and Manoj Bajpai among others.
