Every Hindi film enthusiast was in a joyous mood when the news of Irrfan Khan and Deepika Padukone coming together for a film titled Sapna Didi after the success of their first outing Piku came out. The project was expected to roll in January next year, but the latest development may force the makers to miss the timeline.
When the film was announced, it was said that it would be inspired by the life of mafia queen Rahima Khan aka Sapna Didi who planned the murder of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. Deepika Padukone was roped in to play the dark and gritty title role. But the makers are now claiming that the film is not inspired by any real-life story.
Last evening, a statement issued by T-Series said the film was fictional and was untitled. The sudden development has got us thinking that have the makers been denied rights by the family of the mafia queen.
The film was to be directed by Honey Trehan and produced by Vishal Bharadwaj .
