By producing most of his latest films, it seems Shah Rukh Khan is going in the reverse direction to get his old projects too in his shelf, by acquiring their copyrights. Apparently, he purchased the rights of television serial, 'Idiot' (1982) and has also recently acquired the rights of his feature film ' Chahat ' from Mahesh Bhatt , reportedly.
SRK wishes to buy the rights of most of his films. He is already in talks with some producers. In fact, ' Chahat ' was the only film Robin Bhatt produced and that too on Shah Rukh's insistence, as per the sources.
Mahesh Bhatt directed ' Chahat ' featured Shah Rukh Khan , Pooja Bhatt , Naseeruddin Shah and Ramya in the prominent role. Bhatt revealed that SRK has been requesting him for the film's rights from past 10 years. After much of reluctance, he has recently signed a deal granting him the rights. For which, SRK payed him a whopping amount.
King Khan has acted in a pool of films under different banners, before donning the hat of a producer. Well, we do understand SRK's sentiments to preserve all his niche work.
