A Gentleman actor Sidharth Malhotra receives flak for promoting his latest film amid violence in Haryana and Punjab.

Promoting one's film is not a bad thing, but there is a borderline which no one should cross. Bollywood hunk Sidharth Malhotra did something so weird yesterday that invited the wrath of the public from all corners.
The actor was criticized heavily for promoting his latest film A Gentleman in Haryana and Punjab ahead of the verdict against the controversial self-proclaimed godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh .
The actor wrote on his Twitter handle, "To all the people of Haryana, please stay safe. Hope you can see our film soon #Agentleman #PeaceAndLove," he had tweeted earlier in the day.
Post the verdict came out and Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was convicted in a rape case, his followers almost brought the who state on knees by vandalizing public and private property and setting vehicles on fire. The violence claimed over 31 innocent lives.
Post the judgment many people criticized the actor for his insensitive tweet. The actor later clarified, saying his thoughts and prayers are with the people affected by the violence.
"It's really sad to see the situation worsen since morning and see people in Punjab and Haryana. Love and prayers.
"To people who are commenting on my morning tweets, they were made before the verdict! Thoughts and prayers," he wrote.
