Young director Mohit Suri 's sister Smily Suri who made her big screen debut with Mohit Suri 's directorial venture ' Kalyug ' along with Kunal Khemu , will now start her new innings but this time on small screen. Smily is all set to make her small screen debut with Ekta Kapoor 's period drama 'Jodha Akbar'. The baby faced actress will play the role of Ruqaiya Begum in this TV serial. The period drama 'Jodha Akbar' is based on the life of emperor Akbar and his Hindu wife Rajput Rajkumari Jodha Bai. Smily's character Ruqaiya Begum will be shown as Akbar's first wife.
Speaking about her small screen debut Smily said that, this role encouraged her to accept the offer to appear in the show. She revealed that she was getting lots of offers for TV shows since last few years, but as she is not a typical saas-bahu show type of actress, she did not accept the offer earlier. This role of Ruqaiya Begum is very different and challenging. She feels that this role will help her in breaking her 'girl next door' image created by her character in her first film ' Kalyug '.
Besides ' Kalyug ', Smily was also seen in the movies like ' Crook ' in 2010 and ' Yeh Mera India ' in 2008.
