SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment has acquired the Hindi remake rights of Kamal Haasan’s Hey Ram!

Actor Shah Rukh Khan , who is wholly focusing on Aanand L Rai ’s Zero , has finally taken out some time from this project and has acquired the Hindi remake rights of Kamal Haasan ’s Hey Ram. The movie was originally made in Tamil and was written, produced and directed by Kamal himself. Recently, Shah Rukh and Kamal were at an event in Mumbai and the latter confirmed the news to a leading news portal.

Kamal Haasan confirmed the news and said, "Shah Rukh only got a wristwatch for acting in my film at the time because, by the end of it, I had nothing left in hand. Now, he is the brand ambassador for a watch brand. I am glad that he got the Hindi rights of Hey Ram from Bharat bhai (co-producer Bharat Shah). He should have some memory of the film as he gave his friendship and service for it.”

For the uninitiated, Hey Ram was historical fiction-political thriller film simultaneously made in Tamil and Hindi languages. The film was written, directed and produced by Kamal, who also acted as the protagonist in the film. The semi-fictional plot centers on India's Partition and the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi by Nathuram Godse.

The film won three National film awards and Shah Rukh only had a cameo in it.

Well, as Badshah Khan has acquired the rights of the film, it will be awaited to watch the star cast of the new film because the original had stalwarts like Hema Malini , Rani Mukerji , Naseeruddin Shah , Om Puri , Saurabh Shukla , Atul Kulkarni (won National Award for his role), and many more biggies.
