The veteran actor Rajesh Khanna , who became the first superstar of Bollywood has passed away in Mumbai at the age of 69. The actor, who charmed millions of his fans between the period of 1960s and 1970s, breathed his last at his residence 'Aashirwaad' today afternoon.
Actor Rajesh Khanna was in poor health since April this year and had been suffering from various health issues. In the past one month, he was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital twice. His death has come to the film fraternity and his fans as a shock as he was discharged from the Lilavati Hospital yesterday and was reported to be fine.
The actor has shot to superstardom with the 1969 hit flick ' Aradhana ' opposite Sharmila Tagore . He had vast fan following during his successful days. But even today, he is present in the heart of millions of his fans. On hearing the news of their 'kaka' (), as Rajesh Khanna was fondly called, a swarm of fans gathered outside the actor's Bandra residence.
Just like Anand, the character Rajesh Khanna played in the film ' Anand ', the man is gone. But the memories of the legendary actor and the first superstar of Hindi films will live on!
According to sources, his last rites will be performed on Thursday at 11am.
