The veteran actress Zohra Sehgal , who left an impression on viewers' mind with her performance in the films like ' Veer-Zaara ', ' Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham ', ' Saawariya ', ' Cheeni Kum ', ' Kal Ho Naa Ho ' and ' Dil Se ', breathed her last on Thursday evening at Delhi-based hospital.
Sehgal passed away at the age of 102 years and the news was confirmed by her daughter Kiran by saying that she died of cardiac arrest and she was not keeping well since last 3-4 years. The historian Irfan Habib posted a tweet, "Just confirmed that Zohra Aapa is no more." Habib also tweeted, "Extremely sad to know about d passing away of Zohra Sehgal , a woman who lived a full life on her own terms. Great loss to art and culture. RIP." Zohra was honoured with Padma Shri in the year 1998, Padma Bhushan in 2002 and Padma Vibhushan in 2010. The United Nations Population Fund (UNPF)-Laadli Media Awards honoured her with the title "Laadli of the Century". Zohra also appeared in Hollywood venture 'Bend It Like Backham'. Apart from acting, the talented lady also worked as a choreographer in the movies like ' Nau Do Gyarah ', ' Necha Nagar ', ' C.I.D. ', ' Baazi ', 'Dev Anand in Goa'. She also did theatres.
The megastar Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, " Zohra Sehgal passes away at 102 yrs .. what a journey and what an immensely loveable co star! Prayers for her blessed soul!"
