Vidhu Vinod Chopra is back to helm a Hindi film after 11 years; starts shooting his next in Kashmir!

The film is reportedly titled ‘Love and Letters’ and chronicles the 1990 exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the wake of rising militancy in the state.

Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra , whose last Hindi film was Eklavya , is back to direction after 11 long years. Though he helmed a Hollywood film in 2015, he is coming back with a Hindi feature film as director after a long time. Currently, he is in Kashmir for the shoots and the film is reportedly titled ‘Love and Letters’ that chronicles the 1990 exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the wake of rising militancy in the state. While the first schedule has commenced in Kashmir, the second will roll from May.

A source from the state government confirmed that the cast and crew of the film are stationed in Srinagar currently and are shooting in Wazir House in Shivpora. “The filmmaker has sought all permissions, and the security of the film’s cast and crew will be our top priority,” the official said.

A source close to the development told a leading daily that the cast mostly comprises new actors, including several popular local faces Zameer Ashai, Shahid Gulfam and Imran. “The leading man is from Bhopal and the young actress from the Bhaderwah area of Jammu region. It’s a well-researched film written by Vinod and a Kashmiri writer,” the source added.
