Bollywood has taken up the charge of voicing women empowerment. Working on the similar grounds, here’s a film Phullu that talks about the social issue of sanitary hygiene.
The poster has Filmistan actor Sharib Hashmi lying on human-sized sanitary pad. It also reads the tagline “Joh aurat ka dard nahi samjhta… Bhagwaan usse mard nahi samjhta”. Thus, film Phullu aims at educating the women about the illness of traditional methods opted during menstruation and also the use of sanitary napkins as the substitute.
Well, this update of Phullu reminds us of Akshay Kumar’s PadMan. His film is also about a man who takes up the challenge of producing low-cost sanitary napkins for women and spread the awareness in rural India. Therefore, it will be interesting to watch both the films. As Sharib’s films are known to be content driven, while Akshay has the star-power along with a story.
Directed by Abhishek Saxena, film Phullu will mark its release on June 16.
