Disha Patni confirmed to play Sangamithra in the Tamil historical drama!
The mega-budgeted film was announced with Shruti Haasan but she bowed out of it within days of the announcement.

Makers of the much-talked-about Tamil historical drama Sangamithra have finally confirmed that Bollywood actress Disha Patni has been roped in to play the title role in their forthcoming film. The project was earlier announced with Shruti Haasan at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival this year, but the actress opted out of it due to some undisclosed reasons. Disha has been cast to replace Shruti in the film.
Reported to be made on a massive budget, Sangamithra is one of the most awaited films among moviegoers. After the stupendous success of epic films like Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion , expectations of the audience have skyrocketed from films in this genre. Disha, who is just two films old, will have to put her heart and soul to pull off the titular role of Sangamithra.
To be directed by Sundar C and produced by Hema Rukmani of Thenandal Entertainment, Sangamithra also stars Jayam Ravi and Arya in important roles. The movie is expected to mount floors in the month of December and will be released in two parts. It will also be dubbed in Telugu and Hindi.
Meanwhile, Disha Patni is currently shooting for her upcoming film Baaghi 2 with her rumoured boyfriend Tiger Shroff . The film is a sequel to the 2016 film Baaghi , starring Tiger and Shraddha Kapoor in lead roles.
