Baadshaho Review: A well-executed thrilling film with an incredible star cast!

Baadshaho One Line Review:

Baadshaho is about a gold heist during the times of emergency in the country in 1975.

Positive Points: Direction, Performances, and screenplay are the highlights of the film. Ajay Devgn is perfectly cast in his role of Bhawani Singh.

Negative Points: The second half of the film is a bit stretched, which could have been trimmed in better. The climax could have been more real.

Baadshaho Plot Review:

The story of Baadshaho is set in 1975, the same year when the Indian government had proclaimed emergency and people were thrown behind the bars without any reason. Most of Maharajas and Maharanis had lost their wealth and power. What had just remained was an outward ostentation.

After the death of her Maharaja father, Gitanjali ( Ileana D’Cruz ) is suddenly burdened with the responsibility of his whole palace and people. She has no idea how empires are run. Soon, she meets Bhawani Singh, ( Ajay Devgn ), an old confidant of her late father. Bhawani stays with her like a shadow and soon they fall in love.

Two years later, when Indian government imposes emergency, a political leader, who feels insulted after Gitanjali refuses to sleep with him, plans to teach her a lesson. He makes a secret plan to confiscate all the gold reserve which Gitanjali’s father had hidden at some place of the sprawling palace. He takes help from a senior army officer and his junior Seher ( Vidyut Jammwal ) in his plans.

When Gitanjali realizes she cannot save the treasure with all her might, she calls Bhawani and asks her to steal the gold when a special army truck shifts it from Rajasthan to Delhi. Bhawani teams up with Dalia ( Emraan Hashmi ), Tikla ( Sanjay Mishra ) and Gitanjali’s friend Sanjana ( Esha Gupta ) to accomplish the mission. Will they be able to carry out the heist? Is there any other plan in action which these four have no inkling about? To know more, watch the film.

Baadshaho Performance Review:

From the looks of it, Baadshaho might seem to be a film of Ajay Devgn . But that is certainly not the case. It is true that Ajay is the most saleable star among all the actors, but the writer has written the film in a manner that each actor gets to perform and show his talent. Ajay Devgn , Emraan Hashmi , Sanjay Mishra , Vidyut Jammwal and Ileana D’Cruz , Esha Gupta , everyone has done a wonderful job. In the role of Bhawavi Singh, Ajay shines. It seems the role was tailor made for him. Emraan Hashmi as Dalia is likable. Like Ajay, his character is also fleshed out very well. Sanjay Mishra and Vidyut Jammwal , too, impress with their performances.

Coming to female leads of the movie, Ileana D’Cruz as Maharani Gitanjali is just brilliant. She looks very graceful in her queen avatar. Her character has many shades in the movie, and the actress pulls off all shades with unmatched elan. On the other hand, Esha Gupta , she too manages to leave an impression in the crowd of actors. But one still feels, she should have been given more screen time.

Baadshaho Direction Review:

Filmmaker Milan Luthria , who has some brilliant films like Kachche Dhaage , One Upon A Time In Mumbaai and The Dirty Picture to his credit, strikes back again after his last unsuccessful directorial venture Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara . When you look at his filmography, you find that he has delivered his best whenever he teamed up with Ajay Devgn . He joins hands with his favorite star once again, and the result is really commendable.

After watching the trailer of Baadshaho , many thought that it would be an out-and-out actioner. But Luthria ensures that it turns out to be a full package, filled with other emotions also, not just anger which leads up to dollops of action. The film has romance, suspense, love, betrayal, and friendship. The director very successfully manages to strike a perfect balance among all the emotions and delivers a film that is thoroughly entertaining and gripping.

Baadshaho Technical Aspects Review:

The film is cinematographed by Sunita Radia . Yes, a female cinematographer. In Bollywood, there are only a few female cinematographers because many think that the domain totally belongs to males. But after watching how brilliantly Radia has shot the film, you can demand the entry of more female cinematographers in the industry. She has beautifully captured the terrain of Rajasthan. The climax is well shot. Editor Aarif Sheikh does a good job in the first half of the movie, but his scissors loose edge in the second half.

Baadshaho Music Review:

Though the soundtrack of the movie has several songs, only two of them feature in the movie. The first song is the recreated version of "Mere Rashke Qamar". It has already become quite popular among the listeners and one can listen to it on loop. The second song is “Piya More”. Not just musically, the song is also visually appealing. Picturised on Sunny Leone and Emraan Hashmi , the song is peppy and can make you groove instantly.

Baadshaho Final Verdict:

You just cannot miss this film. After a long time, a heist film has arrived that keeps you hooked to your seat till the very end.
