One-Line Review: Hrithik Roshan is definitely “Kaabil”!

Positive Points: Hrithik Roshan ’s ability to pull off challenging role and intriguing plot

Negative Points: Lacked detailing of the revenge sequence

Plot: Visually disabled Rohan ( Hrithik Roshan ) and Supriya ( Yami Gautam ) hit it off right in their first date. Like every other couple, they go on several romantic dates over coffee, dancing and shopping. Few months of courtship brings them closer and they get married.

All is well, until Supriya gets raped by Amit Shelar ( Rohit Roy ) and his friend. The couple files FIR against the duo rapist. But justice is denied to them owing to Amit’s strong political connection. That’s when Rohan decides to chase the justice, beating the baddies in power.

Direction and Other Technical Aspects: Sanjay Gupta has got the intriguing plot of a blind protagonist on board. However, the film lost its connect in terms of detailing. Agreed! That hero can do anything, but how did he do it is also important.

Cinematography is good; especially the fighting sequences are shot very well. There is no such iconic dialogue, but whatever it is, it goes in sync with the situation.

Performances: Hrithik Roshan is one of the very few actors of Bollywood to take up such challenging roles. He perfectly fits in the role of visually impaired Rohan. His act redefines disability, where you don’t feel pity for him but feel empowered seeing his confidence and determination.

Yami Gautam ’s character holds a certain degree of importance, yet her act is just passable.

Rohit Roy has played the spoilt brat’s role fair enough. But the one who looked absolute wicked was his elder brother Ronit Roy. He has got that bad man feel around him. His fluent Marathi dialogue delivery added even more edge to his villainy role.

Girish Kulkarni is the emerging bad man of Bollywood. He makes you hate him even in his limited screen presence.

Music: Songs and music of ‘ Kaabil ’ hardly leaves a mark in your mind. Urvashi Rautela ’s “Sara Zamana” is the only entertaining piece, though it doesn’t have any relevance in the plot.

Final Verdict: ‘ Kaabil ’ is overall a good film. Provided you ignore the interrogations – “WHY” and “HOW” popping in your head. Enjoy the film!
