One line Review: The intriguing story of Abhi and Bindu grows on you as the narration proceeds.

Positive Points: It is a delight to see Parineeti Chopra back on the big screen. Ayushman Khurana and Parineeti’s chemistry is on point. The narration is involving, leaves you wanting for more. The editing is perfect as it manages the length of the film well.

Negative Points: There are a few cliched bits and the friend zone aspect is overblown. There are moments where all the logic just fails to exist.

Plot: The storyline is not linear it keeps transcending into flashbacks and present day. Abhimanyu a.k.a Bubla Roy ( Ayushman Khurana ) and Bindu ( Parineeti Chopra ) are childhood besties who grew up together in mad fun. Bindu is a fun-loving, self-obsessed girl who is notorious for leaving things mid-way. Abhi, on the other hand, is Bindu’s (Gabbar) Sambha always. Abhimanyu has been in love with Bindu since forever but he could not convey his feelings. During their college days, they get into different relationships and life happens. Then after a very tragic accident, Bindu’s mother’s passes away and this leaves her in depression. She leaves everything behind and moves to Australia with her aunt. Abhi continues with his life, completes his studies, takes up a bank job and moves on.

Bindu moves in and out of relationships casually, also runs out of her own wedding twice until she again meets Abhi. This is when they both are in Mumbai where she tries to live her passion for music. They both again grow close, he finally gathers the courage to propose her. Their courtships last for a while and then he proposes her for marriage to which she refuses and leaves his heartbroken. He went on to become a bestselling author. The story of Abhi and Bindu is narrated by Abhimanyu while writing his novel: Meri Pyaari Bindu. Will the last chapter of his book change? Does Bindu comes back and make it a happy ending or the last pages of his book will remain unkempt, lies in the climax.

Direction and other Technical Aspects: Debutante director Akshay Roy has done a decent job when it comes to direction. The story telling is appreciable as Bindu and Abhi’s tale grows on you. The genuine approach and the backdrop make it even more captivating. The depiction is light, refreshing with the right kind of drama and emotions. The dialogues are fun and realistic in nature, hence help the viewers to get involved. The characters – Bindu and Abhimanyu are crafted deliberately. The costumes are apt. The cinematography and editing are good. The transition of frames from past to present is comprehendible. Yet, it seems the soul and the magic that is missing in Abhi and Bindu’s story.

Performances: Ayushman Khurana is just perfect in the role of Abhimanyu Roy. He is indeed a great performer and brings just what is needed to the table. He renders a flawless act and pulls off every emotion amazingly well. The pain and grief that his character is facing, is seen through his performance.

Parineeti Chopra who is back after a break is a delight to watch on the big screen. She looks gorgeous in every frame and performs impressively. She seems so natural and easy with her performance of a careless and a happy-go-lucky person.

All the supporting actors portrayed their part exceeding well. Aparajita Adhya’s character stands out efficiently. She plays a typical mother and her funny antics are likable.

Music: All the songs are lovable and already a huge hit amongst the viewers and music lovers. Mana Ke Hum Yaar Nahi songs play at a very emotional section and it is so heart-breaking to listen to after you know the story.

Final Verdict: Meri Pyaari Bindu is a film that will make friends with your heart but, your brain might not approve of this friendship! It can be a one-time watch. It can surely be a weekend flick with friends.
