Mubarakan One Line Review:
Twins separated at childhood decide to take the help of their uncle to tell their families about their girlfriends.
Positive Points: Hilarious performance by male leads and a bucketful of funny dialogues which will surely leave you bursting with laughter.
Negative Points: There is a bunch of clichéd one liners targeted at Punjabis which may not as entertaining to many.
Mubarakan Review Plot:
As you must have guessed by the trailer of the film that Mubarkan is basically a comedy of errors. Twins Karan Singh ( Arjun Kapoor ) and Charan Singh ( Arjun Kapoor ), who were separated at childhood and were raised by two different families of relatives, one living in London and another in Punjab, fall in love with girls Sweety ( Ileana D'Cruz ) and Binkel ( Athiya Shetty ) respectively who are getting married to the other brother. They are afraid of telling the truth to their families and sort out the confusion before it goes beyond control. Unable to come up with any plan, they decide to take help from their uncle Kartar Singh ( Anil Kapoor ). But when did they know that his entry into the scene will create a farrago of confusion of another level. How Karan and Charan manage to convince their families to accept their respective girlfriends is what forms the crux of the story.
Mubarakan Review Character Performance:
Mubarkan stars Arjun Kapoor as the male protagonist, but it is seasoned actor Anil Kapoor who steals all the limelight in this comedy caper. In the role of Kartar Singh, he is perfectly cast and makes you fall in love with himself in the very beginning itself. Without his presence, Mubarkan would have not been the film it is today. We have not seen Arjun Kapoor in full-fledged comic roles before. It is a treat to watch him try something different and deliver a performance which is enjoyable and, of course, not so easily forgettable. With every film, he is showing a marked improvement in his performance which is really commendable. He plays both the parts convincingly. Both roles seem to be written only for him. He deserves more such roles to show his versatility as an entertainer.
Ileana D'Cruz in the role of Sweety is excellent. Her eyes add more to her expressions. The actress looks gorgeous throughout the film and arrest your attention whenever she is there on the screen. Another female lead Athiya Shetty too manages to perform her part well. It is good to see her onscreen after her debut film Hero in 2015. Rahul Dev , Ratna Pathak Shah and Pavan Malhotra have also played their parts perfectly. Over all, everyone has pulled off their roles well.
Mubarakan Review Direction:
Filmmaker Anees Bazmee has previously directed a number of successful comedy films, but this one is totally different. Mubarakan is a thoroughly delightful film which the whole family can watch together. When it comes to comedies in recent times, Bollywood has been accused of relying on adult content to elicit the audiences' laughter. But Bazmee plots his film around situational comedy which is bang on. There are jokes which leave you in splits. There are situations which keep you hooked throughout. All characters have been fleshed out so neatly that you fall in for them as the film begins.
Mubarakan Review Technical Aspect:
The film has been shot beautifully by Himman Dhamija . He has captured some beautiful locations of London and Punjab through his camera. Every frame of the film is colorful and a treat to the eyes. Editing of the film is crisp which keeps the film pacy. Production value of the film is quite rich.
Mubarakan Review Music:
The music of the film has been scored by Amaal Mallik , Gourov Roshin , Rishi Rich with the lyrics by Kumaar . The music of the film is good, if not chartbuster. Songs like 'Hawa Hawa' and 'Jatt Jaguar' stand out in the whole album. All songs are well-shot.
Mubarakan Review Final Verdict:
In the time of adult comedies, if you have been missing the arrival of a clean comedy film which has the power to entertain all your family, Mubarakan is a film for you. Don't miss it.
