Tumhari Sulu Movie Poster

Tumhari Sulu Performances Review:

National Award winning actress Vidya Balan toplines the movie and plays the central character of Sulochana aka Sulu. The character suits her very well. It looks very realistic and with her solid acting prowess, she makes it even more believable and relatable. In a nutshell, Vidya breathes life and soul in the character which the makers had created on the paper. Tumhari Sulu is a film which relies on her star power as she is the only salable actor in the film and Vidya does deliver. Manav Kaul , on the other hand, is a surprise package, who charms his way into your heart with his effortless act. He is just brilliant in the movie. It’s true that Tumhari Sulu is a Vidya Balan affair, but without Kaul's astonishingly natural act, it could have never been the film it is. As the head of the radio channel, Neha Dhupia pulls off her role well. She looks glamorous in the film. Despite having a little screentime, she succeeds in leaving a lasting impression.

Tumhari Sulu Direction Review:

Suresh Triveni , who has directed many short films before, debuts as a full-length feature film director with Tumhari Sulu . While watching the film, you can feel that the experience he gained while directing short films comes in handy for him. His film does not look like a world which is full of contradictions and created by taking a lot of creative liberties. The atmosphere Triveni creates is convincing all the way through. He has directed the film with delicate restraint and does not go overboard anywhere. Tumhari Sulu is a film which has its heart in the right place and does not resort to anything bizarre. There are some scenes, moments, and dialogues in the movie which ring so true that you start seeing reflections of your life in the film.

Tumhari Sulu Technical Aspect Review:

From cinematography to art direction and production design to costumes, everything is very real and believable in Tumhari Sulu. Having said that, editing by Shivkumar Panicker could have been crispier as it slows down the pace at certain points. Besides that, the film is as good as it can get.

Tumhari Sulu Music Review:

The soundtrack of Tumhari Sulu is a cocktail of too many styles and genres, simply because it has been rendered by several music composers who have tried to add their own flavour to it. The album features five songs in total and among all the songs, the one which can steal your heart immediately is the Punjabi romantic number ‘Ban Ja Meri Rani’, which is a rejigged version of a Punjabi song by Guru Randhawa and Haji Springer . Another song which is quite likeable is the rebooted version of Sridevi ’s one of the most popular numbers, ‘Hawa Hawai’. Remaining songs are also good and goes well with the flow of the film.

Tumhari Sulu Final Verdict:

Tumhari Sulu is a complete entertainer which does not bore you at any given point of time. Impeccable performances by Vidya Balan and Manav Kaul keep you engrossed throughout. It’s a very nuanced and worthwhile coming-of-age movie for the whole family.
