The International Film Festival of India is held every year in November, from November 20 to November 28. The festival provides an opportunity to not only view films from around the world, but also to exhibit our own regional cinema to a bigger, more diverse audience.
This year's IFFI includes a slew of South Indian films from the Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada industries, including some well-known titles such as Rishab Shetty's ‘Kantara’, Tovino Thomas' ‘2018’, Mani Ratnam's ‘Ponniyin Selvan II’, Vetrimaaran's ‘Viduthalai’, and others.
The mystical action thriller film starring Rishab Shetty and directed by him swept the country by storm in the later part of 2022. The film portrays the story of a Kambala champion who clashes with a forest inspector. Bhoota Kola art also plays an important role in the film. The film received a lot of attention for its visuals and the performers' performances.
Ponniyin Selvan II, Mani Ratnam's magnum opus, is also included in the Indian Panorama category, with an ensemble cast that includes Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and many others. The historical action-drama picture was well welcomed by both fans and reviewers.
Kunchacko Boban and Gayathrie Shankar star in the Malayalam political satire Nna Thaan Case Kodu (Sue Me). Other notable names include Rajesh Madhavan, Unnimaya Prasad, Basil Joseph, and many more. The film garnered positive reviews, particularly for its screenplay and performances by the performers.
The Malayalam survival drama film 2018 is based on the 2018 Kerala floods. Tovino Thomas, Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali, Aparna Balamurali, Narain, and other actors star in the film. The film has also been selected as India's official entry for the 96th Academy Awards' Best International Feature Film category.
Vetrimaaran's newest film, Viduthalai, received positive reviews from both fans and reviewers upon its theatrical debut. Soori played the lead in the picture, breaking a run of humorous parts for the actor. Other notable actors in the historical crime thriller film include Vijay Sethupathi, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, Bhavani Sre, and many more.

In addition to the films described above, the Indian Panorama category includes ‘Aattam, Iratta’, ‘Kaathal’, ‘Malikappuram’, and ‘Pookkaalam’ in Malayalam, ‘Kaadhal Enbathu Pothu Udamai’, and ‘Neela Nira Sooriyan’ in Tamil, and ‘Aaraariraaro’ in Kannada.
