Controversy Erupts As Ramya Subramaniam Faces BACKLASH For 'Classi-fy Kuthu Number' Na Ready; Twitterverse Reacts! (View Tweets)

A social media post caused Ramya Subramaniam, a multifaceted figure known for her acting, anchoring, and recent foray into publishing, to get into trouble. On July 10, she posted a video of herself and two friends singing the song "Naa Ready" from Thalapathy Vijay's movie 'Leo' in Bharatanatyam. While the video soon became popular on Twitter, it also caused a stir and received criticism from some areas.

Ramya's caption, in which she portrayed the action as an attempt to "classi-fy" a kuthu (folk) song, was the cause of the criticism. Twitter users immediately criticised her use of language, charging her with casteism and emphasising the fact that no dance style should be viewed as better to another. As netizens voiced their displeasure and called her out for the alleged insensitivity, the controversy grew.

The Bharatanatyam cover video was posted by Ramya Subramaniam on her Instagram and Twitter accounts. Ramya Subramaniam earlier played a supporting character in Mani Ratnam's 'OK Kanmani.' The disputed comment she had added to the photo quickly caught people's interest instead of the dance performance. "This is what you get when we 'classi-fy' a kuthu number," Ramya stated in her article. Neenga Ready a? Sollunga nanbas/nanbis, #Leo #NaaReady #Thalapathy (sic).

A user tweeted saying it's not classy.

Another user tweeted asking the definition of class.

One user said Kuthu is by far the classiest dance form ever and nobody needs to classify it more.

Ramya's effort to label the kuthu number as "classical" was criticised as being unsuitable and showing a lack of knowledge and respect for many art styles. They emphasised that each kind of dance has its own importance and should be respected without fostering hierarchy or prejudice. Social media users publicly condemned her behaviour and charged that she was promoting casteist beliefs as the outcry grew.

The Vijay Television programmes 'Kalakkapovadhu Yaar?' 'Ungalil Yaar Adutha Prabhudheva?' and 'Namma Veetu Kalyanam' helped Ramya Subramaniam, a well-known TV personality in Tamil Nadu, become well-known. She has given memorable roles in films like Mozhi, OK Kanmani, Sangathalaivan, and Aadai throughout her acting career. Along with her professional accomplishments, Ramya is known for being a published author, a health coach, and a fitness lover.

Ramya Subramaniam has contributed greatly to the entertainment industry, but this most recent scandal serves as a warning that even well-known people can come under fire for their words and deeds. People must be careful with their expressions as social media continues to amplify public opinion, encouraging inclusivity and a respect for many types of art and culture.
