Disha Patani in talks to pair opposite Vijay in Thalapathy 66
According to reports, Bollywood star Disha Patani has been approached to play the female lead in Tamil superstar Vijay’s next film, tentatively titled Thalapathy 66.
To be directed by Vamshi Paidipally, the upcoming film is set to get off the ground soon. The team is gearing up to begin production in the second week of April.
Before Disha Patani, such names as Rashmika Mandanna, Tamannaah Bhatia, Kiara Advani, and Kriti Sanon were doing the rounds as the possible leading lady opposite Vijay. But if fresh reports are to be believed, Patani is likely to bag the plum role.
If the actress goes on to sign the film on the dotted line, it will mark her foray into Kollywood. She has, however, earlier featured in a Telugu film in 2015.
Interestingly, Vijay and Patani already know each other well as they earlier shared screen space for a television commercial.
Reportedly, Thalapathy 66 is being planned as a Tamil-Telugu bilingual. It is said to be an emotional family drama filled with romance, comedy, and sentiments.
Meanwhile, Vijay is awaiting the release of his much-anticipated film Beast, which is scheduled to hit screens on April 13. It stars Pooja Hegde as the female lead.
Disha Patani, on the other hand, will next be seen in Mohit Suri’s Ek Villain Returns, co-starring John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, and Tara Sutaria.
