Dulquer Salmaan is now preparing for the release of Salute, his forthcoming film. After the Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) decided to prohibit his films, Kunjikka found himself in hot water. The cinema owners' organisation has stated that it would not work with Dulquer Salman's films. After Dulquer Salmaan revealed that his forthcoming home production film Salute will be released on OTT, the decision was taken.
The film was planned to be released in theatres in January. Despite cinemas restarting with full capacity in numerous areas, the creators chose to put the picture on OTT when the third wave of COVID-19 created a delay.
Salute is directed by Rosshan Andrrews and is sponsored by Dulquer's Wayfarer Films. Bollywood actress Diana Penty will also be seen making her Malayalam debut in the film. The film, in which Dulquer plays a cop, was meant to be released on January 15 but was postponed due to the pandemic. According to reports, the association and the production business have a release agreement in place. They alleged that the decision to put the movie via OTT was taken without consulting the Kerala Theatre Association.
FEUOK has opted not to collaborate with films starring Dulquer Salmaan or films produced by him. FEUOK's decision has yet to elicit a response from the actor.
On March 18, Salute will be released on SonyLIV. Bobby and Sanjay wrote the script for the film. Manoj K Jayan, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, Saikumar, Binu Pappu, Deepak Parambol, and Saniya Iyappan also star in the film.
