Desamuduru was screened in theatres in and around Hyderabad, in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. At the time of its release, Desamuduru was one of the highest-grossing films of 2007 and one of the most successful films in Allu Arjun's career. The film, which also starred Hansika Motwani, was a breakthrough for the Telugu film industry at the time and established him as a bona fide action hero. This dubbed version was originally titled "Hero" in another language. Allu Arjun worked with Puri Jagannadh for the first time on this film.
