Game Changer: Karthik Subbaraj REVEALS What Inspired Him To Write The Film’s Story!

Karthik Subbaraj, whose upcoming film ‘Jigarthanda Double X’ will be released in theatres on November 10, 2023, recently spoke with Baradwaj Rangan for Galatta Plus.

The filmmaker was questioned about his experience working with a major director like Shankar, whose next project starring Ram Charan, ‘Game Changer’, features a narrative written by Karthik Subbaraj.

Karthik Subbaraj on ‘Game Changer’s’ Story:

When asked about the scope and nature of the subject, Karthik revealed that the film is an out-and-out political drama with a large canvas that must be pulled off to meet the expectations of a filmmaker like S Shankar. The huge size of the film's tale requires a great hero's name as well.

Furthermore, the film is heavily based on large-scale politics, and the filmmaker thinks that he is not prepared for such a subject. Because the film requires such a huge director and cannot be done by Karthik alone, he chose to convey the story to S Shankar, who loved it.

Karthik Subbaraj also stated that, while he wrote the plot for the film, S Shankar wrote the comprehensive script. Karthik stated that when the two of them sat down for a talk, Shankar moved the first notion he had into a larger scale, and the things he added were much greater.

He was also questioned if he ever felt vanity for working for another filmmaker, despite the fact that he is a successful director himself, to which Karthik said, "No...no, I'm very happy and all only."

Karthik Subbaraj and S Shankar’s Workfront:

Karthik Subbaraj's most recent film was ‘Mahaan’, starring Chiyaan Vikram and Dhruv Vikram and released straight on Amazon Prime Video. The film earned different acclaims from critics for its varied parts and was well appreciated by many.

Karthi returns to the big screen with the much-anticipated spiritual prequel to his 2014 film ‘Jigarthanda’, which continues the intriguing narrative of Jigarthanda. Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah appear in the key roles of ‘Jigarthanda Double X’.

Furthermore, S Shankar is working on two films, one starring Kamal Haasan and the other starring Ram Charan, titled ‘Indian 2’ and ‘Game Changer’. Both are scheduled to be released in theatres next year.
