Dhanush and Vetrimaaran are one of the most exciting director-actor teams in Tamil cinema. Over the previous 15 years, the combination has delivered audiences some of the most memorable and famous films, like ‘Polladhavan’, ‘Aadukalam’, ‘Vada Chennai,’ and ‘Asuran’. They also collaborated on the 2014 comedy-drama film ‘Kaaka Muttai’.
Dhanush and Vetrimaaran's 2018 flick ‘Vada Chennai’ is perhaps the popular favorite of their collaborations. The story follows a carrom player in Northern Chennai who becomes engaged in the region's gang battles. The narrative takes place over a 16-year period, from 1987 to 2003.

Now, the film is getting a big re-release to commemorate the film's five-year anniversary. The film will be shown on the big screen of Chennai's Kamala Theater in Vadapalani. The film will be re-released on Thursday, October 12th. According to reports, ‘Vada Chennai’ will host more than 30 concerts over the weekend. Although just one theater has been formally announced so far, it is expected that others will follow suit.

The film ended on a cliffhanger, and fans have been anxiously anticipating the sequel. According to several sources, ‘Vada Chennai 2’ would begin following Suriya's Vaadivaasal. However, no formal confirmation has been provided.
Dhanush's next film will be ‘Captain Miller’, directed by Arun Matheswaran. The film also stars Shiva Rajkumar, Sundeep Kishan, Nassar, and many other notable actors.
