Ponniyin Selvan 1: Trisha says she shares a warm friendship with Aishwarya Rai; ‘We would talk so much on set that Mani Ratnam sir would scold us’

Acclaimed director Mani Ratnam is anxiously anticipating the premiere of his epic adaptation of renowned Tamil author Kalki Krishnamurthy's Ponniyin Selvan 1. Two separate releases of the movie are intended. The debut part will hit the theatres on September 30. The film has some of the biggest stars from the film industry including Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Trisha Krishnan.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Trisha plays rivals in the drama. In a recent conversation, Trisha shared how despite their characters being nemesis how in real they got along so well on set. Sharing her experience of working with Aishwarya. Trisha said, “I, fortunately, got to meet her and interact with her on Day 1 of my shoot, and she is beautiful inside out. And it was challenging because we are not supposed to like each other too much in this film. But we got along pretty famously on set. She is lovely to work with and I’m sure everyone who worked with her would agree with me. She is so warm and is one of the most hardworking actors I’ve worked with. There were times when Mani Ratnam sir would come and say – you guys are talking too much. Stop talking, I can’t have this camaraderie for my scene. I’m very honoured that I could share screen space with her.”

Directed by Mani Ratnam, the film is slated to hit the big screens on September 30. It is set to clash at theatres along with Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan’s awaited film Vikram Vedha which releases on the same day. The film will compete in the theatres with Dhanush’s Naane Varuven.
