Ponniyin Selvan 2, Mani Ratnam's eagerly anticipated masterpiece, is scheduled to be released on April 28. Tomorrow marks the release of the movie's teaser, and anticipation for the plot's development is high. Expectations are extremely high this time around because the first installment did so well at the box office, but there is one rumour circulating about the film's duration that may worry fans. Ponniyin Selvan 1, which starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, and others, opened to negative reviews. The movie, however, performed remarkably well at the box office, earning more than 400 crores worldwide. High expectations are placed in PS 2 with such successes already under its belt.
In terms of length, a report in Bollywood Life claims that Ponniyin Selvan 2 has a 4 hour running period. It seems unlikely that Ponniyin Selvan 2 will last four hours given that Part 1 was less than three hours lengthy. But if it's accurate, PS 2 will allegedly surpass Aamir Khan's Lagaan (224 minutes to 3 hours 44 minutes) to become the longest Indian movie.
Ponniyin Selvan 2 shouldn't be four hours lengthy; doing so will be a major barrier to the movie's success because it is intolerably long.
