One of the year's highest-grossing films was Pushpa: The Rise, which was released in 2021, starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna in the key roles. Fahadh Faasil also makes a brief appearance in the first part as the antagonist; more details about his character will be unveiled in the sequel. The most recent reports, however, may be a treat for fans as the producers are reportedly looking to cast Tamil star Vijay Sethupati in a key role in the sequel.
According to reports, Vijay Sethupathi was originally cast in Pushpa: The Rise to play a forest officer. However, the actor eventually dropped out of the project due to a major conflict with his filming dates. According to a news portal report, the makers have finally decided to cast the actor for Pushpa: The Rule.
First instalment of the film, which was directed by Sukumar, earned over ₹300 Crores at the box office, and the sequel is anticipated to do even better given the recent surge in South film production. Allu Arjun portrayed the film's main character whereas Rashmika Mandanna portrayed his love interest Srivalli. In the action film, Fahadh made his Tamil acting debut as Banwar Singh Shekhawat, a police officer.
Pushpa: The Rule is expected to start rolling in September 2022.
