Rashmika Mandanna was asked if she had seen Rishab Shetty's critically acclaimed movie Kantara a few weeks ago, and she said that she hadn't. Soon this got into an issue with a few followers alleging that she does not hold respect towards Kannada film industry. As a result of upsetting many people by choosing not to watch Kantara, this gave rise to rumours that she will be barred from the Kannada cinema business. Rashmika Mandanna, however, has since clarified the situation.
Rashmika Mandanna recently discussed trolls, the Kantara controversy, and her expulsion from the industry during a media interview. She claimed that she only has love to give to people that tease her. She explained to Kantara that she had not yet seen the movie when she was asked if she had seen it two days after its release. She later watched the movie and even sent the team a comment about it. She mentioned getting a thank-you note from them. Rashmika Mandanna stated that she is not one of those who will post messages on social media and that people do not know what is going on internally. She answered, "So far I haven't been blacklisted," when asked about the possibility of a ban from the Kannada film industry.
