The prestigious South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) were held in Bengaluru city on Saturday. On day 1 of the two-day gala, names of winners from the Telugu and Kannada film industries were announced.
The star-studded event was attended by several actors, including Yash, Pooja Hegde, Allu Arjun and Ranveer Singh.
Allu Arjun, who won the award for Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo last year, took home the award this time too for his performance in Pushpa: The Rise. Taking to Twitter to thank his fans, Allu wrote, “Thank you #SIIMA2022! Soo Blessed by the people to the best actor once again. It’s soo rare that getting it once itself is a dream & when it happens twice I truly feel very fortunate. Thank you for all the love. Gratitude ????"
Furthermore, Pooja Hegde won the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Telugu) for her performance in the film Most Eligible Bachelor. She was also bestowed with the 'Youth Icon South' (Female) Award.
Telugu hottie Vijay Deverakonda, who was last seen in Liger (2022), was also presented with the Youth Icon South (Male) Award.
Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, who was also present at the event, was honoured with the 'Most Popular Hindi Actor in South India' award.
Late Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar was also posthumously honoured with the 'Best Actor in a Leading Role' (Kannada) award for the film Yuvarathnaa. The film's team accepted the award on stage.
