On April 7, Thalapathy Vijay began filming in Chennai for his next project, Thalapathy 66. The first schedule, which included a song sequence, was completed recently, and set construction for the second schedule is currently ongoing in Chennai.
While Rashmika Mandanna plays the female lead, reports claim that veteran actor Sarathkumar would play Vijay's father in Thalapathy 66, and that two middle-aged actors will play Vijay's brothers. While legendary actor Mic Mohan was rumored to be playing the sibling role, he denied it.
According to recent speculations, Shaam, a popular actor in the 2000s, will play Vijay's brother in Thalapathy 66. Shaam is recognized for his performances in the films 12B (2001), Lesa Lesa (2003), Iyarkai (2003), Ullam Ketkume (2005), and Thillalangadi (2010). In the film Kushi (2000), he played one of Vijay's friends. In this regard, official confirmation is awaited.
This upcoming entertainer has gotten a lot of attention. Vamshi Paidipally had stated that the film will be emotional and that the script was written with Vijay's stardom in mind. Producer Dil Raju said in another interview with the media, "Vijay is doing a film on those lines after a long time and that director Vamshi is trying to give the best output.”
He continued, “Thalapathy 66 has a very good story line and will be a heart-touching family entertainer with a complete package of action, mass elements and good songs."
Producer Dil Raju, director Vamsi Paidipally, and Vijay have collaborated for the first time on this project.
