The year's most awaited film, ‘Leo’, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring Thalapathy Vijay, has finally arrived in theatres. Millions cheered and hooted for the action-packed picture to be the biggest blockbuster of the year during its historic release. The Thalapathy Vijay-starrer has received tremendous plaudits for Vijay's performance while also being chastised for its stuttering second half.

While ‘Leo’ is still doing well in theatres, Thalapathy Vijay's next film producer has given the green light for the actor's next project with Mankatha director Venkat Prabhu.

Archana Kalpathi has always expressed herself as a Thalapathy Vijay fan and was previously associated with Thalapathy Vijay in the 2019 Atlee directorial film ‘Bigil’, which is considered to be a genuine update for the facts of Venkat Prabhu teaming up with Thalapathy Vijay for the first time.

Venkat Prabhu has created numerous blockbuster jewels in Tamil Cinema over the last few years, his most remembered film ‘Mankatha’ starring actor Ajith Kumar is still regarded as one of the actor's greatest films. The filmmaker also did a wonderful film with STR called ‘Maanadu,’ which was a time-loop film with a political plot. The fact that such an unconventional director is collaborating with a celebrity like Thalapathy Vijay should indicate that something intriguing is in the works.

Fans all over the world will be curious about what ‘Thalapathy 68’ will involve and what the film will be about. The Venkat Prabhu-directed film has just recently been updated with an announcement teaser and current details on the pooja ceremony and the shoot for a song in the film.

The film is said to star Thalapathy Vijay in dual roles as father and son, with the pair traveling to the United States for the de-aging technique. The film has an ensemble cast of well-known actors from previous and present generations, including Mohan, Prabhu Deva, Prasanth, Sneha, Priyanka Arul Mohan, and Meenakshi Chaudhary.

The film also marks Yuvan Shankar Raja's second collaboration with Thalapathy Vijay, following the 2003 film ‘Pudhiya Geethai’. The film's official release date has not yet been confirmed; however, it is expected to occur in July 2024.
