It is no secret that celebrated filmmaker SS Rajamouli has already locked his next project after his much-awaited magnum-opus RRR. The filmmaker will join forces with Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu for his next directorial venture. The untitled project, which will enter the scripting stage after the release of RRR, will mark their first ever collaboration.
The latest update suggests that the Bahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017) helmer is planning to rope in Tamil superstar Vikram in the role of the antagonist in the film. Rajamouli was always keen to cast a leading actor from the Tamil film industry and he felt that Vikram fits the bill perfectly. Talks between the two have reportedly begun and the final details will be out soon.
Not much is known about the forthcoming venture except that it will be mounted on a lavish scale and the genre that it belongs to is the one that Babu and Rajamouli have never explored before in their respective careers.
Well-known writer Vijayendra Prasad will script the high-profile film. Sharing some details about the basic plotline, the writer had earlier said during an interview that the film may be set against the backdrop of African forests.
Meanwhile, Vikram is presently busy with Mani Ratnam’s much-awaited film Ponniyin Selvan. It also features Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Trisha on the cast. The first part of the film is set to enter theatres in 2022. His other releases include Dhruva Natchathiram and Cobra.
