Historical and mythological shows are in vogue these days. Almost every leading general entertainment channel has one or two such shows beaming on the network during primetime. Like every other channel, Colors too has two mythological shows, Mahakali– Anth Hi Aarambh Hai and Karmaphal Daata Shani, in its bouquet. However, it has not launched any historical show after Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat went off air a couple of months back. But if a reliable source is to be believed, the channel is coming up with an epic historical saga soon. Yes, Colors is making a show which will be loosely inspired by Dilip Kumar and Madhubala ’s cult classic Mughal-e-Azam .

The yet-to-be-titled show will be produced by Aniruddh Pathak’s Writers Galaxy Studios, the makers behind Sony Entertainment Television’s upcoming magnum opus Prithvi Vallabh. Aniruddh is known for writing a string of popular mythological and fantasy shows like Devon Ke Dev Mahadev, Siya Ke Ram and Mahakumbh, to name a few. He and his team are now working on the story of Anarkali and Salim, who later goes on to become Emperor Jahangir. Besides Salim-Anarkali, the show will also focus on the love story between Jahangir and Empress consort of the Mughal Empire, Nur Jahan who becomes the eighteenth wife of the Emperor.

A reliable source says, “The upcoming show will be on the lines of K Asif’s Mughal-e-Azam, but it will majorly focus on Jahangir and Nur Jahan. Writers Galaxy Studios is making the show for Colors.”

Though no actors have yet been finalized for the lead roles, BollywoodMDB promises to update you on everything related to the show time to time.
